Raasta was created in 2003 and means the "road" or the "way" in Hindi. They endeavour to look at fashion as a constantly changing dynamic form of expression with a romantic forward thinking vision of creating long lasting relationships. Raasta has developed pieces that will hopefully be part of the wearer's journey for a long time and serve as various bookmarks for each chapter in their personal history. They dream of a world where each individual will be able to realize their own creative expression and not merely be part of a larger impersonal style directive where the wearer is unable to add real creative value no matter what their profession or where life takes them.
Raasta works with some of these maverick craftsmen to generate hand-woven fabrics, handmade yarns, hand painted fabrics, engraved accents and all types of embroidery of course all done by hand. Each collection is based on collaboration with artisans exclusively for Raasta which enchants and seduces the wearer.... but then again, we are hopeless romantics! So we go on dreaming!
